NEW DIRECTIONS

Snow delays, closures, and cancellations

Delays:

New Directions is located within the Laurel Highlands School District and follows Laurel Highlands School District for delays and cancellations.

For example:
 
  • If Laurel Highlands School District has a 1 hour delay, New Directions has a 1 hour delay.   Doors will open at 8:35am for drop off of your child(ren).  NO EARLY ARRIVALS WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING BEFORE 8:35am.
  • If Laurel Highlands School District has a 2 hour delay, New Directions has a 2 hour delay.   Doors will open at 9:35am for drop off of your child(ren).  NO EARLY ARRIVALS WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING BEFORE 9:35am.
  • All appointments scheduled during the delay (7:30am – 9:30am) will be canceled/a staff person from New Directions will call to reschedule.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
 
  • If your home school district is closed due to weather and Laurel Highlands School District is open, there will not be transportation for your child to come to the program.  This absence will not count against your child’s attendance.  If you choose to bring your child in for the day and your home school district is closed, YOU HAVE TO PICK YOUR CHILD UP AT THE END OF THE DAY DUE TO NO TRANSPORTATION.
  • If your home school district is delayed due to weather, there will be transportation for your child to come to the program on the delayed schedule for your home school.  This delay will not count against your child’s attendance. 
  • (Example: On a 2 hour delay – if your child is picked up at 6:45am then your child will be picked up at approximately 8:45am)

 

Cancellations:

If Laurel Highlands School District is closed due to inclement weather, New Directions is CLOSED for onsite therapy/academics, however New Directions will provide remote services via Microsoft Teams for that day.

It is the only licensed partial hospitalization program in Fayette County as well as a Private Academic School. New Directions is licensed through the PA Department of Education and Department of Human Services.
