Intakes
“What to expect on the day of your Intake”
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
- Bring any Guardianship or Legal documents as applicable.
- Bring any past diagnostic evaluations, hospital records, or school records that would be important for us to have as we get to know you and your child.
- First, you will meet with one of the Lead Therapists or our Administrative Assistant to go through consents and releases of information.
- Next, you will meet the treatment team, including the Child Psychiatrist, one of our nurses, and one of our therapists who will walk you through the remaining evaluation process.
- Plan to be at New Directions for approximately 2hrs in order to complete the intake process.
- Once the evaluation process is completed, if the recommendation is for your child to attend the program, transportation will be arranged with your child/adolescent’s home school district.
“Information needed for Intake”
- The child/adolescent being referred must be present at the intake.
- The individual that has the legal signing rights for the child/adolescent needs to be present at the intake. (medical rights)
- The child/adolescent’s insurance card.
- A list of medications that the child/adolescent’s is currently prescribed.
- Guardianship or Legal documents as applicable.
- Copy of Parent/Guardian license.

New Directions is a year-round program that provides a unique combination of specialized mental health treatment and comprehensive educational services. It is the only licensed partial hospitalization program in Fayette County as well as a Private Academic School. New Directions is licensed through the PA Department of Education and Department of Human Services.
